Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly leading the race to sign Lazio’s 23-year-old goalkeeper, Christos Mandas, with a potential €30 million deal on the horizon. Despite Mandas recently extending his contract with Lazio until 2029, the Premier League club’s interest remains strong.

Mandas, who joined Lazio from OFI Crete in 2023, has impressed during his limited appearances, notably stepping in for the injured Ivan Provedel. His performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting attention from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Leicester City.

Lazio’s sporting director, Angelo Fabiani, has previously stated that Mandas is “not on the market,” emphasizing the club’s intention to retain the young goalkeeper. However, with Mandas seeking more regular first-team football and Wolves offering a significant transfer fee, a move could be on the cards.

Wolves’ pursuit of Mandas aligns with their strategy to strengthen their squad with young talent. Should the transfer materialize, Mandas would provide competition for the goalkeeping position and potentially secure a starting role in the Premier League.

As the summer transfer window approaches, the situation remains fluid, with Mandas’ future at Lazio uncertain. Wolves’ determination to secure his services indicates their commitment to bolstering their squad ahead of the new season.
