David Moyes Demands More Signings from Friedkins Following Travers Deal as Everton Gears Up for U.S. Tour

Everton boss David Moyes is ramping up the pressure on the club’s new owners, the Friedkin Group, as the Blues prepare for a critical summer rebuild.

The Toffees have secured their third signing of the summer, finalising a £4 million deal for Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers, who has already completed his medical at Finch Farm. The 25-year-old’s arrival will add crucial depth to the goalkeeping department following the departure of several senior players at the end of last season.

But for Moyes, the work is far from over.

According to the Daily Mail, the Everton manager is demanding a further four to six signings before the team jets off to the United States later this month for their pre-season tour. It’s understood that the 62-year-old has stressed both quality and quantity are essential if the club is to meet its ambitions for the upcoming Premier League season.

With numerous first-team departures — many of them as free agents — the pressure is mounting on the Friedkin Group to provide the financial backing Moyes requires. January’s transfer window was notably cautious, but sources suggest the American ownership is now ready to invest more boldly in the squad.

The recent appointment of Angus Kinnear, formerly of Leeds United, as CEO has brought further urgency to Everton’s recruitment plans. Kinnear himself predicted an “unprecedented” summer, and Moyes is clearly keen to ensure that promise is fulfilled.

In addition to Travers, Everton are expected to dip into the loan market once more — a route that proved essential last season as the club navigated a tight financial framework under the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The additions won’t stop with Travers. Moyes believes a squad refresh is vital, especially with some long-serving players, including club captain Seamus Coleman, nearing the end of their playing careers. Though Coleman has signed a short-term extension, his role is now largely expected to be off the pitch, with Moyes keen to retain his leadership and dressing room presence as Everton transitions to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

While the Friedkins have backed Moyes’ early moves in the market, the manager’s demands suggest he believes much more is needed to make the squad competitive. Everton fans will be hoping the owners match that ambition in the coming weeks.
