Leeds United Agree Sean Longstaff Deal, Eye £17m Move for Anton Stach and Lucas Perri as Summer Overhaul Continues

Leeds United are edging closer to completing their fifth summer signing with Sean Longstaff finally set to arrive at Elland Road after a long pursuit.

The Whites have reportedly reached an agreement with Newcastle United for the 27-year-old midfielder, who has been a long-standing target for Daniel Farke’s side. Multiple bids were rejected earlier in the summer, but Leeds have now settled on a £15million fee — finally securing the services of a player they’ve chased for over a year.

Longstaff is expected to play a key role in Farke’s reshaped midfield, and his arrival marks another step in what is shaping up to be a significant summer rebuild at Elland Road. With Leeds aiming to push for Premier League promotion, the move for Longstaff signals intent.

According to Leeds United News, Farke isn’t stopping there. Hoffenheim’s Anton Stach remains high on the club’s wishlist and is seen as the ideal partner for Longstaff. Standing at 6ft 4ins, Stach would offer the physical presence and defensive solidity needed in Leeds’ midfield — a position Farke still views as incomplete.

Leeds have already received the green light to pursue the 26-year-old German, but negotiations have become tense. Recent reports suggest that Leeds were left frustrated after their interest in Stach became public, which has reportedly complicated talks with Hoffenheim. Despite that, optimism remains that a £17million deal can be struck, which would make Stach the club’s most expensive signing this summer.

In goal, Leeds are also pushing forward. With Illan Meslier widely expected to depart, the club is now actively seeking a new No.1. Lyon’s Lucas Perri has emerged as their “top” target to fill the void, even with ongoing links to other names including Vanja Milinkovic-Savic and Dominik Livakovic.

Perri, who has impressed at Lyon, may be available due to the French club’s financial troubles, despite narrowly avoiding relegation from Ligue 1. A swift deal could materialise, allowing Leeds to reinforce another crucial position ahead of the new campaign.

With four players already through the door — including Jaka Bijol (£15m), Sebastiaan Bornauw (£5m), and Gabriel Gudmundsson (£10m) — the addition of Longstaff would leave Leeds with around £105million of their reported £150million summer transfer budget. The expected moves for Stach and Perri would represent major further investment as the Whites aim to build a squad capable of automatic promotion.

Leeds United have already shown they’re not afraid to spend to return to the Premier League, and the summer window is far from over. If Longstaff’s arrival is a sign of things to come, Elland Road could be set for one of the club’s most ambitious transfer periods in recent history.
