Newcastle United have entered the race to sign Marcus Rashford this summer, with the Manchester United forward attracting interest from a host of Europe’s elite clubs.
Rashford, 27, is at a career crossroads after a mixed spell at Old Trafford, which included a loan stint at Aston Villa last season. Now, multiple reports indicate that the Magpies are among the sides exploring a move for the England international, who could be on the move as United reshape their attacking options under a new regime.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Newcastle are competing with Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and clubs in the Saudi Pro League for Rashford’s signature. While Villa are said to be exploring a permanent move following his recent loan spell, the Magpies have reportedly made contact as they look to bolster their forward line ahead of a return to Champions League football in 2025/26.
Rashford’s ability is undisputed, even if recent seasons haven’t consistently reflected the heights he once reached. The forward managed just eight goals last season across all competitions and has faced growing scrutiny over his consistency and focus. Still, his raw talent and potential to rediscover his best form continue to make him an enticing option for clubs across Europe.
Newcastle, for their part, are keen to support Alexander Isak with more attacking firepower after the Swedish striker often carried the burden of goalscoring last season. Eddie Howe’s side are already pursuing other options in the final third, including Brighton’s Joao Pedro and RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa, but Rashford would represent a marquee signing.
Luke Shaw, his Manchester United and England teammate, has previously heaped praise on Rashford, underlining the player’s potential ceiling. “He is in a really good way at the moment. Extremely confident, very positive. He is world-class, and he can be one of the best players in the world if he keeps going,” Shaw said.
