Liam Payne’s Final Project ‘Building The Band’ Gets Netflix Release Date
Netflix has officially confirmed the release date of Building The Band, a new competition-style music show featuring the late Liam Payne, who tragically passed away in October 2024. Filmed months before his death, the series marks Payne’s final television appearance and has seen renewed public interest following the heartbreaking news.
Building The Band aims to discover the next global music sensation, uniquely matching contestants based solely on their vocal compatibility—without seeing each other—echoing the successful format of other Netflix reality hits like Love Is Blind. Contestants listen to anonymous vocal performances and, if impressed, press a button to invite the performer to join their band.
The series features Liam Payne as one of the show’s main mentors. Other star mentors include Destiny’s Child icon Kelly Rowland, Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, and Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean, who will also serve as the host.
Following Payne’s untimely death, there had been speculation as to whether the show would still air. However, Netflix confirmed that Payne’s family had reviewed the series and given their full blessing for it to be released as planned.

A teaser clip has already been released, giving audiences a first look at the format. In the preview, a contestant named Donzell performs Jealous by Labrinth inside one of the show’s signature pods, while other contestants listen and decide whether to select him based on his voice alone.
The show will premiere on July 9, with new episodes released in weekly batches. The schedule is as follows:

- Week 3 (Episodes 8–10) – July 23
