    Wolves Target Swiss League’s Top Striker in €10m Move Following Cunha Exit

    Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly preparing to enter the race for highly-rated French striker Willem Geubbels, as the Midlands side seek to reinvest funds from the high-profile sales of Matheus Cunha and Rayan Aït-Nouri.

    According to French outlet Foot Mercato, journalist Sebastien Denis reports that Wolves are one of several English clubs closely monitoring the 23-year-old, who has just completed a standout campaign with Swiss Super League outfit St Gallen.

    Geubbels, described as a “powerful” frontman, is attracting serious attention across Europe after netting 17 goals and providing three assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances earned him the accolade of Best Striker of the Season by Swiss broadcaster Blue Sport, and St Gallen are now preparing for what is expected to be a frenzied transfer window.

    Having already rejected offers in the region of €8 million (£6.8m) during the January window, the Swiss club have now set an asking price of €10 million (£8.5m) for the forward, who is contracted at the Kybunpark until June 2027. St Gallen reportedly believe keeping Geubbels beyond this summer will be “impossible”.

    Wolves’ interest comes as the club reshapes its squad following the exits of Cunha to Manchester United and Aït-Nouri to Manchester City — moves which have brought in close to £100 million in revenue. The club is now actively searching for attacking reinforcements, with Geubbels firmly on their radar.

    The French striker, a former prodigy who came through the ranks at Lyon, has already experienced top-level football in France, making 39 Ligue 1 appearances across stints with Lyon, Monaco and Nantes. Though his career initially stalled due to injuries and competition, Geubbels has rediscovered his form and confidence in Switzerland, leading to a resurgence that has not gone unnoticed.

    English sides Leeds United, Sheffield United and Southampton are also reportedly interested, while Bundesliga clubs Union Berlin and Köln, as well as Dutch outfit FC Twente, are understood to be monitoring his situation closely.

    Despite the growing list of suitors, Denis reports that Geubbels has not yet received a “concrete proposal”. However, that is expected to change in the coming weeks as clubs firm up their plans ahead of pre-season.

    St Gallen are hopeful of securing a record-breaking fee for the striker — a figure that would eclipse all previous sales in the club’s history.

    Wolves, meanwhile, are also exploring other options, including Danish left-back Clement Bischoff, identified as a potential replacement for Aït-Nouri. Both Cunha and Aït-Nouri signed five-year deals with their respective new clubs, and Wolves will now be keen to ensure their replacements hit the ground running at Molineux.

    With funds available and momentum building, Geubbels may yet find his Premier League opportunity in the West Midlands.
