Hamza Igamane Transfer Saga Intensifies as Lille Chase Rangers Striker in Big-Money Move

Rangers striker Hamza Igamane is at the centre of an intensifying transfer saga, with French side Lille pushing to land the Moroccan international in a move that could see the Light Blues land a significant profit just 12 months after signing him.

Reports circulating across Europe and Africa on Monday suggested that Igamane had arrived in France to complete a medical and finalise terms with the Ligue 1 club. Both Africa Foot and Moroccan outlet Soccer 212 claimed the 22-year-old had landed at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle airport, fuelling speculation that a deal was close.

Igamane enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Scottish football last term, scoring 16 goals in all competitions for Rangers following his £1.7million move from FAR Rabat. His pace, physicality and composure in front of goal quickly made him a fan favourite at Ibrox, while also attracting interest from across Europe.

With Lille now leading the chase for his signature, Rangers’ US-based owners, 49ers Enterprises, are reportedly holding out for a sizeable fee. The forward is believed to be valued at around £15million – a figure that would represent a significant windfall for the Scottish Premiership side if realised.

However, Record Sport understands that, contrary to reports, Igamane has not travelled to France at this stage, and Rangers are still awaiting an acceptable formal offer from Lille. Negotiations remain ongoing, with the Scottish side in no rush to sanction a deal unless their valuation is met.

The conflicting reports have sent the Rangers fanbase into overdrive, particularly as the club continues its major summer rebuild under new manager Russell Martin. Igamane’s future is now a key subplot in that wider overhaul, with the striker believed to be open to a move to Ligue 1 if the clubs can reach an agreement.

The situation is further complicated by the club’s recent change in structure following the 49ers Enterprises takeover. Rangers are now operating under a new company format, moving from a PLC to a LTD, which has sparked speculation about their financial flexibility and long-term strategy in the transfer market.

Despite the noise surrounding his future, Igamane remains a Rangers player, and sources close to the club insist there is no urgency to sell unless the terms suit all parties.

Should he depart, Rangers will need to move swiftly to replace his goal output, especially with Champions League qualifiers fast approaching. The club has already been active this summer, securing Max Aarons on loan from Bournemouth and agreeing a deal for Joe Rothwell.
