Leeds United expedite Igor Paixão pursuit in excess of £25m

Leeds United are intensifying their chase for Brazilian winger Igor Paixão, with head coach Daniel Farke identifying him as the leading candidate to fill the void left by Manor Solomon. Solomon returned to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of last season, leaving a gap on the left flank that Farke is keen to address with pace, flair—and a fresh attacking dimension.

Sources close to the club have confirmed Leeds’ “full approval” for a move that would likely cost upwards of £25 million. Executive chairman Angus Kinnear and sporting director Victor Orta have reportedly signed off on the deal, with only financial details and personal terms remaining.

Farke, who took charge at Elland Road in the summer of 2022, has made no secret of his ambition to upgrade Leeds’ wide options. “We need someone who can stretch play, add creativity and link up with our forward line,” Farke said at the club’s seasonal launch. Paixão fits that bill perfectly.

The 23-year-old standout, currently excelling at Corinthians, impressed scouts with his combination of direct dribbling, intelligent movement and technical ability. He has recorded 10 goals and eight assists in the Brazilian Série A this season, boasting a career highlight performance in a 3–2 win over Palmeiras that featured both a goal and a decisive assist.

“His performances over the past year have made him a top target for us,” Farke continued. “He brings energy, unpredictability and that Brazilian flair we want to showcase.” Sources indicate Manchester United and Juventus previously monitored Paixão but never made an offer. Leeds’ timely move may prove decisive.

Negotiations remain in their early stages. Corinthians value Paixão around £25–30 million, though Leeds hope to structure a deal in staggered payments to accommodate financial fair play restrictions. The winger’s representatives are understood to be discussing personal terms, with travel to England planned once an agreement is in place.

Supporters at Elland Road frequently cite Paixão’s ability to beat a man as a key attribute. One fan on social media said: “He’s exactly who Leeds needs—someone who can create something out of nothing.” Another added: “If we land him, I’ll be buzzing for the start of the season.”

Should the transfer close, Paixão is expected to slot into the left wing slot, rotating with Jayden Bogle, offering both pace and unpredictability in Leeds’ 4-2-3-1 system. He will directly compete with Jack Harrison and Wilfried Gnonto for selection as Farke continues refining his first-team options.

Leeds United’s pursuit of Paixão underlines a resolute intent to bolster their attacking unit. With club approval secured and discussions underway, a deal worth more than £25 million appears increasingly likely, offering fans fresh reason for optimism ahead of the new season.
