Everton are weighing up a move for Bournemouth goalkeeper Mark Travers as David Moyes looks to bring in experienced cover for Jordan Pickford ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international has emerged as a key target following the departures of Asmir Begovic and Joao Virginia, both of whom left Goodison Park earlier this summer upon the expiry of their contracts. With no senior back-up currently in place, Moyes is pushing for a dependable option to support England No.1 Pickford throughout what promises to be a demanding season.

Travers, who has amassed Premier League experience with Bournemouth, spent part of last season on loan at Middlesbrough and has previously had a stint with Stoke City. Despite limited top-flight minutes in recent campaigns, his pedigree and understanding of the English game make him an attractive option for the Merseyside club.

Talks between Everton and Bournemouth have taken place, but no agreement has yet been reached. Sources indicate that negotiations are ongoing, and a deal remains possible as Moyes seeks to bolster his goalkeeping department with a player who can step in confidently if called upon.

Bournemouth are currently in advanced negotiations with Chelsea over a deal for Serbian international Djordje Petrovic, with the west London club seeking a fee in the region of £25 million. Petrovic has also attracted interest from Sunderland, but Bournemouth remain frontrunners to secure his services.

If Petrovic joins the South Coast outfit, that could accelerate Travers’ exit and pave the way for Everton to firm up their interest. Chelsea are also considering further tweaks to their goalkeeping roster, with Mike Penders possibly heading to Strasbourg on loan once Petrovic’s move is finalised.

Elsewhere at Finch Farm, Everton’s youth movement continues, with defender Roman Dixon and midfielder Tyler Onyango both in talks over potential loan moves to League One side Stockport County. The pair are viewed as promising talents, and a full season of senior football could aid their long-term development.

The Toffees’ transfer business has been deliberate this summer, with Moyes keen to blend experienced Premier League operators with emerging youth prospects.
