Everton have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid winger Samuel Lino, with reports indicating that the Spanish giants are preparing for his potential departure.

Toffees boss David Moyes is actively targeting reinforcements on the flanks following the exits of Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom earlier this summer. With depth now a pressing concern, Everton are prioritising a creative wide player in the current transfer window.

According to statistics platform FBref, Lino ranks in the top two per cent of all wingers in Europe for assists per 90 minutes, and sits within the top one per cent for progressive carries — highlighting his ability to drive at defenders and create opportunities.

These metrics align closely with the profile of Takefusa Kubo, suggesting that Moyes is intent on adding a technically gifted creator rather than a traditional goalscoring winger.

Lino’s standout moment last season included a Champions League strike for Atletico, following a sublime pass from Antoine Griezmann — a clip widely shared on social media and praised for its execution.
