CONFIRMED DEAL: Everton Approves Deal for Former Manchester United Key Player in a Surprising Summer Transfer

Everton eye Fred, Wolves line up move for Raskin, and Gimenez on Inter Miami’s radar

Everton have opened talks over a potential move for Fenerbahce midfielder Fred, as David Moyes looks to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The Toffees are preparing for the departure of Abdoulaye Doucoure, whose contract expires at the end of the month. With no renewal forthcoming, the club is working to secure a replacement swiftly – and Fred has emerged as a leading target.

According to Turkish outlet Sabah, Everton have already made contact with the Brazilian’s representatives regarding a return to the Premier League. Fred previously spent five seasons at Manchester United before making the switch to Fenerbahce last year.

Despite the initial approach, Everton are said to be reluctant to overpay for a player entering the twilight years of his career. Fred, now 32, remains under contract at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend by a further year. Fenerbahce are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €15 million (£12.8 million).

Whether Everton are willing to meet that asking price remains to be seen, but their interest signals clear intent to add experience and composure to their midfield group following Doucoure’s exit.

Meanwhile, Wolves are preparing a formal bid to sign Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin, according to The Daily Record.

The Belgian international has clocked up 95 appearances for the Ibrox club since arriving from Standard Liege in January 2023, establishing himself as a key figure in Glasgow. However, with Russell Martin now beginning his reign as manager, Raskin’s future is under renewed scrutiny.

Wolves have monitored the 24-year-old for over a year and are now ready to test Rangers’ resolve. The Midlands outfit could face competition, though, with Aston Villa also reportedly considering a move.

Rangers are keen to tie Raskin down to fresh terms and are said to be preparing an improved contract offer. But with his current deal running until 2027, the club may be forced into a decision if the player signals any unwillingness to extend. A significant offer could tempt the Gers to cash in, particularly with Martin looking to reshape his squad this summer.

Across the Atlantic, Inter Miami are plotting an ambitious swoop for Atletico Madrid centre-back Jose Maria Gimenez.

With the MLS side gearing up for their FIFA Club World Cup last-16 clash against Paris Saint-Germain this weekend, transfer activity is also underway behind the scenes. Fichajes report that Inter Miami have opened discussions with Atletico over the potential signing of the Uruguayan defender.

The move would reunite Gimenez with international teammate Luis Suarez, as Javier Mascherano’s side seek to strengthen their defensive spine. Atletico are reportedly open to a sale, with the 30-year-old no longer a guaranteed starter at the Metropolitano and Diego Simeone’s side eyeing at least one new centre-back in the current window.

Should the deal progress, it would mark another marquee arrival in Miami’s growing collection of South American stars.
