Rangers Could Be Forced to Sell £50m Duo Igamane and Raskin Despite Russell Martin’s Plans

Russell Martin is keen to build his new-look Rangers side around Hamza Igamane and Nicolas Raskin – but the Ibrox hierarchy could still sanction the departure of both players this summer, according to fresh reports.

With 49ers Enterprises now overseeing football operations at both Leeds United and Rangers, their dual responsibilities in Scotland and England are expected to influence the summer transfer window. The American ownership group are focused on preparing Leeds for a return to the Premier League while simultaneously plotting a path back to dominance in the Scottish Premiership for the Gers.

However, those ambitions may not prevent major sales at Ibrox.

According to Football Insider, Rangers’ new boss Martin has identified Igamane and Raskin as two of the core players he wants to build his team around. The pair, who could command a combined fee of up to £50million, are highly valued assets, both in terms of their on-pitch influence and potential resale value.

Yet despite Martin’s desire to retain their services, the final decision could be taken out of his hands.

It’s understood the 49ers are open to listening to significant offers for either player, especially if it helps provide greater flexibility across their dual-club strategy. With Leeds preparing for life in the top flight and potentially in the market for midfield reinforcements, there is growing speculation that resources might be redistributed depending on where they are needed most.

Hamza Igamane, the Moroccan international forward, has quickly become one of the most exciting prospects at Ibrox since his arrival. Still just 21, his energy, movement and technical skill have drawn comparisons to top European forwards and made him a fan favourite in Glasgow.

Nicolas Raskin, meanwhile, has already established himself as a key midfield presence. The Belgian has been a consistent performer since arriving from Standard Liège and is widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted midfielders in the Scottish top flight.

Rangers have already moved swiftly in the market this summer, with Lyall Cameron becoming the club’s first official signing. The Dundee midfielder, who impressed last season in the Premiership, is expected to add depth to Martin’s midfield options.

However, losing either Raskin or Igamane would be seen as a setback to Martin’s plans – particularly as the club looks to unseat Celtic and reclaim the league title.

While Martin has reportedly made it clear to the board that both players are integral to his tactical vision, sources suggest the club’s new leadership is adopting a pragmatic approach. Offers in excess of £25million for either player would be seriously considered.

The coming weeks are likely to define the early days of Martin’s tenure. If Rangers are to mount a genuine title challenge under the former Swansea boss, keeping hold of their top talent may be just as important as who they manage to bring in.
