Big Move Loading: Everton Close In on €35m Midfield Maestro

Everton Quoted €35m for Juventus Midfielder Douglas Luiz Amid Premier League Interest

Everton have been informed they will need to table a bid of between €30m and €35m if they wish to secure the signing of Douglas Luiz from Juventus this summer.

According to reports from Corriere Torino, the Brazilian midfielder is firmly on the transfer list at the Allianz Stadium, with Juventus eager to offload him after a disappointing debut season in Turin. The Serie A giants are looking to balance their books and are hopeful that Luiz’s sale can play a key role in that process.

Newly appointed general manager Damien Comolli is overseeing Juventus’ transfer activity and has been tasked with moving Luiz on as part of a summer overhaul. Comolli is said to be working not only on the player’s departure but also on securing a replacement, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Granit Xhaka emerging as a serious candidate.

Juventus’ asking price for Luiz stands between €30m and €35m — a figure they believe would allow them to recoup their losses without registering a financial hit.

A return to the Premier League is currently viewed as the most likely outcome for Luiz, with Everton, Fulham, and Manchester United all monitoring the situation. While United’s interest has not advanced, Everton appear more proactive, seeing Luiz as a potential centrepiece in their midfield rebuild under David Moyes.

There is, however, some uncertainty over whether the Toffees would be willing — or able — to meet Juventus’ valuation. While their interest is genuine, there remain internal discussions over the financial implications of such a move.

Luiz, who joined Juventus from Aston Villa in 2024, has endured a frustrating year in Italy, struggling to make a consistent impact under multiple managers and amid club instability. That experience could make a return to England appealing, particularly if it offers a chance to re-establish himself at the top level.

“His quality is very good against low blocks,” a Juventus source was quoted as saying, hinting at the skillset that once made Luiz a Premier League standout and which could still be of great value to Everton’s evolving midfield.

Juventus, meanwhile, are pressing ahead with plans to reshape their squad, and Comolli is keen to move swiftly. The pursuit of Xhaka signals their intent to add experience and leadership to the midfield — qualities they had hoped Luiz would bring but which ultimately failed to materialise over the past 12 months.

Whether Everton will match the financial demands remains to be seen, but the interest is active. Moyes is believed to view Luiz as an ideal fit for the style of play he is looking to implement at Goodison Park, and the club is now weighing whether a formal bid will be submitted.

With Juventus open for business and the player considering his options, the situation could develop quickly over the coming days. For now, Everton remain in the race — but must decide whether to meet the asking price or risk losing out to rivals.
