Wolves Boss Vitor Pereira Backs New Signing to Reach the Top

Wolves manager Vitor Pereira has expressed his belief that new arrival Fer Lopez has the potential to play for some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League in the future.

Wolves’ pre-season campaign has been a mixed bag, with the team failing to secure a win in any of their four friendly matches. The absence of Matheus Cunha has highlighted the team’s lack of attacking options, sparking concern among supporters.

Despite the disappointing results, there have been a few encouraging signs. Jhon Arias scored a debut goal against Girona, winning over fans, while fellow new winger Fer Lopez has made a strong impression on Pereira.

Pereira: Fer Lopez Could Reach the Very Top

Lopez, who joined from Celta Vigo for £19.5 million in June, made an immediate impact during his debut and has continued to feature prominently in pre-season fixtures. Speaking to the Express & Star, Pereira praised the 21-year-old:

“In my opinion, Fer Lopez has the quality. He’s a player who can play for top clubs in England in the future.”

Pereira hopes Lopez can fulfill that potential while wearing a Wolves shirt. He highlighted the youngster’s technical ability and creativity:

While Pereira admits Lopez will need time to adapt, he’s confident the Spaniard can bring the kind of spark Wolves have missed in Cunha’s absence.

Shaping the Attack Post-Guedes

Following the sale of Goncalo Guedes to Real Sociedad earlier this week, Pereira is working with limited options up front. With Fabio Silva attracting transfer interest, and Hwang Hee-chan also linked with a move away, the attacking line is in flux.

Jorgen Strand Larsen, whose loan was made permanent, is expected to lead the line. Supporting him, three players — Hwang, Lopez, and Arias — are in contention for starting roles. While Hwang might be a short-term solution early in the season, the longer-term vision seems to favour the new arrivals as they continue to adapt to English football.

Lopez and Strand Larsen have already shown promising chemistry, and Arias has delivered in pre-season moments.
