Everton have reached an agreement to sign Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on a permanent transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 26-year-old reunited with Enzo Maresca at Chelsea last summer after working together at Leicester City. However, Dewsbury-Hall struggled to secure a regular spot in Chelsea’s starting lineup, starting only twice in the Premier League during his first season.

Although he played a key role in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League-winning campaign, the club has decided to let him go following the arrival of Sporting CP’s Dario Essugo and the return of Andrey Santos, who impressed during his loan at Strasbourg.

Merseyside now seems to be his next destination, with Romano reporting that Everton have agreed a deal with Chelsea for Dewsbury-Hall’s permanent transfer this summer.

The deal is reportedly worth around £28-29 million including add-ons, with a fixed fee above £25 million.

Everton have also agreed personal terms with the player, according to Romano, and a medical is expected soon, with the final steps to complete the transfer underway as Dewsbury-Hall looks to gain more playing time.

Adding Squad Depth

David Moyes has openly expressed his intention to strengthen his squad this summer, and signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall would bring both depth and technical skill to Everton’s midfield.

In their recent 2-2 draw against Manchester United, Moyes started Tim Iroegbunam and Idrissa Gueye in central midfield, with James Garner deployed out wide, highlighting the team’s lack of midfield depth—a weakness the club is eager to address.

While Dewsbury-Hall was instrumental in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League triumph—scoring four goals in 13 appearances—he struggled to break into their Premier League lineup, falling behind Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Enzo Fernandez in the midfield pecking order.

He made only two Premier League starts and logged 256 minutes across 13 league appearances.

What likely appeals most to Moyes is Dewsbury-Hall’s impressive form during Leicester’s promotion-winning 2023/24 season, where he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists—an attacking midfield contribution that could help fill the gap left by Abdoulaye Doucoure at Everton.
