Everton are continuing their push to bolster attacking options this summer, with manager David Moyes reportedly keen on securing another striker—despite already landing highly-rated French forward Thierno Barry.
Barry, who joined from Villarreal in a £27 million deal, has finally linked up with his new teammates at Finch Farm after an extended break following the U21 Euros. The 21-year-old is expected to feature in the upcoming Summer Series in the United States, where fans will be eager to catch a first glimpse of their new signing.
While Barry has shown promise—netting 19 goals and providing nine assists across 41 appearances last season—Everton’s interest in additional reinforcements up front suggests Moyes is not relying on a single solution.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Everton remain in the hunt for Monaco striker Mika Biereth, a player also on the radar of Premier League rivals Newcastle United, Wolves, and Aston Villa. The Danish forward enjoyed a prolific 2024/25 campaign, scoring 27 goals and notching eight assists in 44 appearances, outscoring Barry by eight goals.
Biereth’s form has reportedly caught the attention of several clubs, and despite Monaco signing him only in January, he made an immediate impact—scoring 13 goals in just 16 Ligue 1 matches.
The potential arrival of Biereth would undoubtedly present a selection dilemma for Moyes, but one the Everton boss would likely welcome. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja both departing Goodison Park this summer, Everton are light on proven attacking options—despite encouraging pre-season showings from Beto.
A source close to the club told Caught Offside that Everton are “still in the chase” for Biereth, with talks ongoing behind the scenes. The 21-year-old is currently valued at £40 million, and a move would represent a significant statement of intent from the Toffees.
Meanwhile, Barry has only just completed his first day of training under Moyes but is expected to feature in Everton’s pre-season matches in the U.S. The manager remains optimistic about the young striker’s potential but is equally aware of the need for depth and competition in the forward line.
“Having solid options up front is essential for a long season,” a club insider noted. “Barry is clearly a talent, but Biereth’s goal record speaks for itself.”
