Everton and Rangers could be poised to complete a summer swap deal that may reshape both clubs’ attacking units ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Toffees, now under the stewardship of David Moyes and backed by new owners The Friedkin Group, are actively reshaping their frontline following a season of struggles in front of goal. Everton netted just 44 goals in the Premier League last term—only the three relegated sides fared worse—and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to depart upon the expiry of his contract, reinforcements are vital.

One name high on the list is Rangers’ Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane. The 22-year-old only joined the Glasgow side last summer, but according to Football Insider, he is attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Brentford. Everton, though, are believed to be leading the race.

The report claims the Light Blues could be tempted into doing business if the deal is right, though there are mixed views from talent scouts over Igamane’s readiness for England’s top flight. Still, the upside is apparent. Igamane registered 16 goals in all competitions for Rangers last season, despite not always being a starter.

With Everton now on the offensive in the market, there is growing speculation that a swap deal involving their own striker Beto could be the key to unlocking negotiations. The Portuguese forward scored 12 goals in all competitions last season but is reportedly available for transfer, with Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri claiming Everton are willing to sanction his sale for around €25 million (£21m).

Rather than a cash deal, however, Everton could offer Beto directly to Rangers in exchange for Igamane. The move would see Rangers receive a like-for-like replacement in Beto, a powerful and Premier League-tested centre-forward, while Everton would finally land a target they’ve monitored closely since Igamane’s breakout year at Ibrox.

The prospect of the deal seems to offer benefits for all involved. Rangers, under new manager Russell Martin and a fresh ownership regime, are expected to recalibrate their squad before the new Scottish Premiership season. Martin may be keen to imprint his own tactical identity and Beto’s profile could complement that process.

Meanwhile, Moyes is intent on launching his Everton tenure with a dynamic, more clinical frontline. The former Rangers boss, now back in charge at Goodison Park, is understood to view Igamane as a key piece in this rebuild.

Though some within the scouting community remain cautious, the narrative around Igamane is largely positive. As the Football Insider report notes, “the potential upside is huge if the forward can make the grade.”

Should a straight swap materialise, it would represent one of the summer window’s more intriguing pieces of business, with both clubs trading not only goalscorers but statements of intent for the new season.

Whether Beto thrives in Glasgow and Igamane can adapt to Premier League life remains to be seen—but the foundations of a compelling transfer twist are already in motion.
